Shelter Canine Behavior Training

Welcome to the Bound Angels Shelter Training Video Series. It is our goal to help shelter staff, management and volunteers to better understand the (sometimes) complex behaviors that dogs may exhibit in shelters and how to deal with them successfully.

It is important to note that shelter dogs are often suffering from emotional stress or exhibiting behaviors that place them in danger.

The instructions in these videos was filmed during our Shelter Rescue Workshops. For more information please visit boundangels.org

Removing Dogs From Kennels #1

Any shelter has to remove dogs from their kennels, the reasons for this are numerous. There are two ways to remove a dog from their kennel: one way is to bring the dog out of the kennel and onto the leash, the second way is to enter the kennel with the dog and leash them from there.

Most dogs can be removed from the front of the kennel using the technique shown in this video. Please watch this video and the explanation included.

For dogs that are more difficult to handle, please watch our other videos on Removing Dogs from Kennels.
